The ESG Institute Launches Operations in Malaysia: Welcoming Eric Woo and his team at the Chartered ESG Institute (Malaysia)

The ESG Institute is proud to announce the official opening of our new office in Malaysia, a major step forward in our continued global expansion and our commitment to supporting sustainable development through local leadership and practical expertise. This exciting milestone also marks the incorporation of Eric Woo and his team at the Chartered ESG Institute into our international network.

Malaysia is rapidly emerging as a pivotal player in the global sustainability landscape. With its strategic location in Southeast Asia, robust manufacturing sector, and increasing regulatory emphasis on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, the country offers substantial opportunities for organizations aiming to future-proof their operations. National initiatives such as the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (2021–2025) underscore the nation's dedication to sustainable economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social reengineering. Additionally, Bursa Malaysia's recent amendments to sustainability reporting requirements, effective from December 2024, mandate listed companies to align their disclosures with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards, enhancing transparency and accountability in corporate sustainability practices.

Leading our presence in Malaysia is Eric Woo, an accomplished expert in quality management systems, ESG integration, and organizational development. With over two decades of industry experience, Eric has worked across sectors including manufacturing, construction, chemicals, food safety, and Halal industries. He began his career in engineering and project development, with hands-on roles in the electronics, metal, rubber, and plastics industries. Over the years, he expanded his expertise into quality assurance, ISO certification, and performance improvement, working as an auditor, R&D manager, and consultant.

Eric holds a Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering Design and a Bachelor’s in Materials & Manufacturing Engineering from the United Kingdom. He is also a certified IRCA QMS Lead Auditor. His consultancy and training work focuses on helping organizations implement systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO/TS 16949, HACCP, and ISO 22000. He is especially well known for his ability to deliver practical, culturally relevant solutions that are both performance-driven and people-centered. His engaging training style and deep understanding of continuous improvement tools like 5S, KAIZEN, Core Tools, and PDCA have earned him a reputation for making technical content accessible and empowering.

“Opening The ESG Institute’s office in Malaysia is an exciting opportunity to support businesses on their ESG journey. I look forward to helping organizations align sustainability goals with ISO systems and practical action,” said Eric Woo, Country Head – Malaysia, The ESG Institute.

His leadership will be key to supporting Malaysian businesses in understanding evolving ESG regulations, embedding sustainability in operations, and developing systems that strengthen resilience and unlock long-term value. By bringing global expertise together with local knowledge, The ESG Institute is positioned to deliver support that is actionable, strategic, and rooted in the realities of the local context.
